Ms. Leah's Journey in Mandarin Education
Ms. Leah, currently residing in Southern California, brings with her 20 years of experience in English language teaching. After moving to the United States, she decided to embark on a new chapter in her career to help children in America master Mandarin. During the global pandemic in 2020, when children shifted to online self-directed learning, she began designing Mandarin teaching materials specifically tailored for online education. Drawing from her experiences as both a mother and a teacher, she created a comprehensive and engaging set of digital teaching resources, games, and tools.
While pursuing her master’s degree in English Language Teaching, Ms. Leah gained a deep appreciation for the importance of effective teaching materials and methods. She applied the principles and techniques of English teaching to Mandarin instruction, dedicating significant time to studying various Mandarin teaching resources available in the market. Combining their strengths with approaches used in native language teaching in the U.S., she designed parent-child-friendly Mandarin materials and courses, grounded in Western educational styles and bilingual learning models.
Starting with Zhuyin (Mandarin phonetic symbols) courses, Ms. Leah meticulously built a robust and comprehensive Mandarin curriculum, spanning from foundational Zhuyin and phonics to reading and elementary Mandarin for grades 1 to 3. To date, she has developed nearly 300 lessons across 20 levels, all personally designed to help students steadily progress in their learning journey. Her work continues to expand as she guides hundreds of students to achieve new milestones in Mandarin education.
The teaching team at L.T. Mandarin School, led by Ms. Leah, is dedicated to preserving Taiwanese language and culture. Our mission is to serve as a bridge in children’s Mandarin learning journeys, connecting them to our everlasting homeland—Taiwan.
